I heard that Choices Pregnancy Center was having a free ultrasound day for training purposes. They took me in and helped me when nobody else would. I had an ultrasound done there and found out that I was 27 weeks pregnant and that I was likely having a baby boy.

From Client to Mentor

I grew up in a home filled with love, family loyalty, drugs, alcohol, and house parties. I chose the same path as I grew up in and began using drugs at the age of 10. I was a full-blown meth addict by the age of 23. When I was 28, I found out that I was pregnant with my second child when I felt him moving inside of me. I was so scared because I used meth every day and every night. I figured I was about 10 to 12 weeks along since movements were small and I still fit in a size 0. I went to multiple places and everyone turned me and my baby away because I wasn’t sure exactly how far along I was.

I had an ultrasound done there and found out that I was 27 weeks pregnant and that I was likely having a baby boy. They referred me to OB/GYN care. I am so grateful to them for putting themselves out there for me and my baby. I truly felt their love for my baby.

I was clean for the remainder of my pregnancy, and our son was born big and healthy! Praise God! But after he was born, I started using again. My husband and I got into trouble and caught for using and distributing meth. We lost our blended family of five kids. That spring, we both accepted Christ into our hearts and got clean from all drugs and alcohol. We got our kids back after three months and we have been clean from all drugs and alcohol since then.

We became members at Crossbridge Baptist Church, and that’s where I heard a Board member, Shelly Jones, speak about Choices Pregnancy Center. I knew that my heart belonged there and that I wanted to give back the way that they had given to me. When I found out that Choices Pregnancy Center shared the love of Christ to their clients, I knew it was where God was calling me. I applied immediately to volunteer there. Completing the interview process and training, I volunteered off and on as a mentor for two years until I finished my education and began working at Jordan Valley Community Health Center.

I pray daily for the clients that walk in the door of Choices Pregnancy Center. I know there are other addicts out there and pregnant women with no place to turn, and I pray that they find Choices Pregnancy Center or a place with God’s love like Choices has.
